Good luck to you and your father in this move. There will be a lot of challenges for both of you ahead. But there are many things you can do to make it for the best. i could give you a lot of advice but here are my top 3:
1. Investigate the new place carefully. Get references, spend time there, ask ??'s
2. Be involved with the move in and do everything you can to make that smooth
3. Follow up. No place is perfect. Many times the staff is underpaid and understaffed - you can help make a difference by being involved and concerned. |

I am getting kind of desperate. My dad is in an assisted living facility but his condition continues to deteriorate. The staff cannot provide enough care for him so we are hiring extra caregivers from 8:00 am to 8:00pm every day. It is getting very expensive, yet the thought of moving him to a nursing home that i know he would hate isn't appealing. I just don't know what is the best thing to do. |
